How to dispose of common items in Peel Region (Mississauga & Brampton)
Mattress and box-spring disposal
Peel identifies mattresses as oversized/bulky garbage. Eligible curbside residents can set a mattress out on regular garbage day by 7 a.m.; a Community Recycling Centre is the main drop-off alternative and fees may apply.
Couches and large furniture
Furniture is a standard example of acceptable bulky garbage in Peel. Keep the item separate from the cart and follow the regular garbage-day set-out timing.
Fridges, freezers and appliances
Some appliances and electronic products use different recycling or special-waste routes. Check the exact item rather than grouping every large household object under “bulky garbage.”
Drywall and renovation debris
Peel’s waste-collection by-law excludes construction, demolition and renovation waste from the bulky-item category. A renovation pile therefore needs a different drop-off or hauling plan.

The Peel rulebook applies to properties receiving Peel’s curbside collection. Apartments, condos or buildings using private waste service may have a separate property-management process, so residents should verify how the building handles oversized items.
