How to use the Yukon disposal hub
This Yukon hub currently links to 1 researched community guide, including Whitehorse. Waste services are local: a sofa, mattress, appliance, renovation load or household hazardous item can follow a different route depending on the community's current collection program, transfer facility, landfill or special-waste system. The province or territory page is therefore a directory, not a substitute for the local guide.
In Yukon, Whitehorse and smaller communities can have different collection and drop-off options, so the local guide should be checked before transporting material. Open the community page before loading a vehicle or booking a hauler. Check whether the item is accepted curbside, requires a special pickup, belongs at a staffed facility, or needs a separate depot or stewardship route. Fees, hours and accepted materials can change. If your community is not listed, use the local government or regional waste authority directly rather than applying a nearby city's rule.
Current Whitehorse disposal example
Whitehorse requires bulky items to be separated from regular waste at the Waste Management Facility. The City's 2026 fee schedule lists construction and demolition waste, bulky items and mattresses as separate disposal streams; mattresses carry a per-item surcharge in addition to the weighed fee, and refrigerant appliances also carry a surcharge.
The City also scheduled 2026 Clean-Up Days when residential tipping fees are waived for specified sorted materials, including wooden furniture, mattresses, residential construction and demolition waste and yard waste. Those event dates do not turn into a year-round free-disposal rule, so confirm the current facility page before making a trip.
