- Book through Waste Connections. Homes paying the City garbage fee may have up to four large household items collected per calendar year; private-collection strata properties are generally excluded.

- Schedule the collection first and follow the confirmed date and placement instructions. Do not use the service as an unbooked curb pile or assume an entire cleanout qualifies as a few household items.

How to dispose of common items in Coquitlam
Mattress and box-spring disposal
Mattresses and box springs may qualify when listed in the booking and prepared as directed. Keep them dry and check whether wrapping is required for the confirmed collection.
Couches and large furniture
Common household furniture can be eligible, subject to size, weight and annual service limits. Large sectional pieces may count separately and must be safely movable from the curb.
Fridges, freezers and appliances
Appliance acceptance depends on the program list. Refrigerators, freezers, electronics and propane equipment should be checked individually because separate trucks or recycling routes may be used.
Drywall and renovation debris
Construction and demolition material is not the purpose of household large-item pickup. Drywall, flooring, cabinets, concrete and roofing need an accepting facility or private debris service.
Does your property type change the answer?
Strata and apartment residents should begin with the property manager. A City address does not automatically mean the building receives City curbside garbage service.
Pickup limits and preparation
Each item must weigh no more than 70 kg. Wrap and seal mattresses and box springs in clear plastic; keep the sidewalk and traffic lane clear.
Electronics and excluded materials
The program added eligible electronics on October 6, 2025. Electronics must exceed the published 20 × 12 × 10 inch size threshold. Air conditioners, tires, hazardous materials, renovation debris and yard waste remain excluded from this pickup.
