How to dispose of common items in Magog
Mattress and box-spring disposal
Mattresses and box springs are accepted in Magog’s annual bulky collection. The ecocentre is another option under its current resident access/fee rules.
Couches and large furniture
Sofas, armchairs, dressers, bookcases and other large furniture are accepted as bulky items when they can be safely handled.
Fridges, freezers and appliances
Household appliances are excluded from the annual bulky collection and are directed to the ecocentre/appropriate recycling stream instead.
Drywall and renovation debris
Some manageable renovation material—such as doors, flooring, drywall, fencing and moulding—can be collected if two people can move it. Brick, concrete, asphalt, shingles and loose/heavy debris are excluded and go to the ecocentre.
Does your property type change the answer?
Bulky collection is sector-based. Multi-unit/building residents should verify the property’s collection sector and staging rules before moving items to the curb.
Magog: some renovation material is curbside, but heavy debris is not
Choose the route before loading
The distinction is based partly on safe manual handling. Certain drywall/flooring/door material can qualify, while brick, concrete and loose heavy debris does not.
Keep mixed cleanouts separated
Appliances are another clear exception: take them to the ecocentre rather than adding them to the annual bulky pile.
