LOCAL DISPOSAL OPTIONS

How to dispose of common items in Candiac

Mattress and box-spring disposal

Mattresses are accepted in the monthly bulky collection and should be placed accessibly beside the cart with the required clearance.

Couches and large furniture

Furniture, including couches, is accepted. Furniture must remain in one piece rather than being dismantled for the bulky truck.

Fridges, freezers and appliances

Non-refrigerant appliances can be collected as bulky items. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are excluded and should go to the ecocentre/refrigerant recycling route.

Drywall and renovation debris

Wood, metal, ceramic, plaster, concrete, brick, stone, sand and soil are treated as construction/big-waste material under a separate City collection/ecocentre system.

Does your property type change the answer?

Buildings with seven or more units use a different City bulky collection frequency, so residents should follow building instructions rather than the standard small-property schedule.

Candiac: furniture and construction material are two different collections

Choose the route before loading

A mattress or couch can go with monthly volumineux, while construction debris uses the City’s separate gros rebuts/ecocentre route.

Keep mixed cleanouts separated

Keep 60 cm clearance between the cart and bulky items, and make sure each piece can be safely handled by two people.
