How to dispose of common items in Pembroke
Mattresses, couches and household furniture
Furniture and mattresses are specifically listed for Pembroke’s large-item curbside collection. Small items that fit normal garbage, material packed in boxes/bags and extra bags of regular garbage are not considered large items.
Appliances, electronics, paint, propane and other special items
Scrap metal and e-waste are part of the large-item program, while hazardous products such as propane cylinders, paint and fluorescent bulbs are excluded from the curbside pile. Use the Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre for the year-round special-waste route.
Renovation, construction and yard debris
Construction and renovation material—including toilets, lumber, windows, doors and pallets—is not collected as bulky waste. The OVWRC construction/demolition site is the proper route for project material; large brush also uses that facility and can be charged by weight.
