How to dispose of common items in Selkirk

Mattress and box-spring disposal

Mattresses are specifically outside the regular curbside stream. Take them to the Waste Transfer Station and check the current charge before the trip.

Couches and large furniture

Large furniture should be self-hauled or reused; do not leave a couch beside regular curbside waste.

Fridges, freezers and appliances

Metal appliances and other special items should be separated for the Transfer Station/recycling stream. Refrigerant units can have different handling requirements.

Drywall and renovation debris

Construction and demolition material belongs at the transfer station and is charged separately from ordinary household waste under the City fee schedule.

Does your property type change the answer?

The curbside limits apply to City-serviced residential properties. Apartments and commercial properties may use building/private collection.

Choose the route before loading

The useful distinction is between normal household curbside bags/carts and materials that require the Waste Transfer Station.

Keep mixed cleanouts separated

Separate metal, electronics, hazardous products and construction material before arrival because they can use different drop-off areas or fees.
