How to dispose of common items in Mission

Mattress and box-spring disposal

Mission’s seasonal cleanup accepts bagged mattresses and box springs under the event rules. Outside that event, the landfill lists a per-piece mattress/box-spring charge, so check the current fee before self-hauling.

Couches and large furniture

Furniture and other manageable bulky household items can use the seasonal cleanup when they fit the event volume and handling rules. At other times, use the landfill or another confirmed disposal route.

Fridges, freezers and appliances

Do not assume every appliance belongs in ordinary garbage. Sorted scrap metal/appliance streams can have different charges or diversion rules at the landfill; confirm the exact appliance before loading.

Drywall and renovation debris

Gypsum and construction debris use landfill rules rather than ordinary curbside collection. Mission’s fee schedule distinguishes newer gypsum from older/asbestos-related material, so renovation waste needs to be identified before disposal.

Does your property type change the answer?

Regular curbside service and seasonal cleanup eligibility apply to serviced residential properties. Multi-unit or privately serviced properties should confirm their building or hauler arrangement.

Mission: seasonal cleanup is not the same as year-round bulky pickup

Choose the route before loading

The spring program is useful for a short window, but it should not be read as an on-demand bulky-item service. If the cleanup dates have passed, use the landfill or another approved route.

Keep mixed cleanouts separated

Sort special materials before the trip. Mattresses, gypsum and other construction material can have their own handling or fee rules, and asbestos-related waste requires extra care. Off-rim passenger/light-truck tires are accepted at the Mission Landfill at no charge (maximum eight per customer per day); on-rim tires have a per-tire fee.
