How to dispose of common items in Taber
Mattress and box-spring disposal
An old mattress that will not fit the cart should be taken through the Transfer Station route. Confirm the current material acceptance and any special charge before loading it.
Couches and large furniture
Furniture and other large household waste can use the Transfer Station/voucher system rather than being left beside the curbside carts.
Fridges, freezers and appliances
Appliances can use the transfer/disposal system, but regulated or recyclable units may be directed to a specific area. Ask staff about the exact appliance.
Drywall and renovation debris
Renovation waste is one of the reasons Taber created the year-round coupon system. Sort material and confirm what the Transfer Station accepts before bringing a mixed construction load.
Does your property type change the answer?
The vouchers are tied to residential utility accounts. Coupons are picked up from the Town Administration Office or Public Works Shop, and proof of address may be required. Tenants should coordinate with the landlord before obtaining coupons for a rental property.
Taber: use the voucher system instead of waiting for spring cleanup
Choose the route before loading
The three annual coupons provide up to 750 kg of covered disposal across the year if used separately within the program rules.
Keep mixed cleanouts separated
Present the coupon at the weigh scale before disposal. Commercial accounts are not eligible, and current-year coupons do not carry forward indefinitely.
