LOCAL DISPOSAL OPTIONS

How to dispose of common items in Peace River

Mattress and box-spring disposal

Mattresses are explicitly excluded from the 2026 fall curbside cleanup. Use a separate approved disposal route and confirm the current facility instructions.

Couches and large furniture

Bulky furniture such as couches, chairs and tables is accepted within the two-large-item limit and the program’s size/weight limits.

Fridges, freezers and appliances

Stoves, washers and dryers are accepted. Fridges, freezers and air conditioners need proof that refrigerant was removed by an approved technician or the Town may charge an additional fee.

Drywall and renovation debris

Bundled wood, drywall and flooring are collected separately during the seasonal program and do not count toward the two-large-item limit, provided they meet the program’s preparation rules.

Does your property type change the answer?

The cleanup is for residential utility customers. Items must be placed at the front of the property where crews can reach them, including for back-alley collection customers.

Peace River: the 2026 mattress rule is easy to miss

Choose the route before loading

The fall cleanup accepts many bulky household objects, but mattresses are a stated exception. A clean box spring can be collected while the mattress itself needs another route.

Keep mixed cleanouts separated

Keep large items, yard material and bundled construction debris separated because different crews can collect different waste types during cleanup week.

Mattress collection correction

The Town's September 17, 2026 cleanup notice explicitly excluded mattresses. Clean, odour-free box springs were accepted. The September 28–October 2 event is over, so neither item should now be left curbside without a new Town-authorized program.
