How to dispose of common items in Norfolk County
Mattress and box-spring disposal
Furniture, mattresses, bed frames and box springs are listed as accepted bulky items when included in a paid appointment.
Appliances and special items
Appliances can be collected, but refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, freezers and other Freon-type appliances require an Ozone Depletion Prevention tag before pickup. Electronics, hazardous products and tires use separate routes. As of July 14, 2026, tire drop-off is temporarily suspended at both Norfolk County transfer stations because of provincial tire-program collection delays.
Drywall and renovation debris
Construction, masonry, drywall, lumber and similar building waste are excluded from bulky pickup and should use the transfer-station/private route.
Tire drop-off is temporarily suspended
Norfolk County currently lists tire drop-off as unavailable at both transfer stations. Use a confirmed alternative registered recycler; the former allowance of ten tires per visit does not establish current acceptance.
