How to dispose of common items in Halton Region
Mattress and box-spring disposal
Mattresses and box springs are accepted as bulk waste. Halton instructs residents to wrap mattresses in plastic for curbside collection.
Appliances and special items
Metal appliances are not regular bulk waste. Halton provides a separate metal/appliance collection by appointment, and the pickup window can take roughly two to three weeks.
Drywall and renovation debris
Construction and renovation materials are excluded from curbside bulk waste. Check the Waste Management Site rules and rates before self-hauling drywall, wood, fixtures or mixed debris.
Before you set out or haul a large item
In Halton Region, classify the item before choosing the disposal route. Furniture, mattresses, refrigerant appliances, electronics, household hazardous waste and construction debris can be governed by different collection or facility rules even when they come from the same home.
Use Halton Region — Curbside Collection and Waste Sorting Guide to re-check the current collection date or booking requirement, item dimensions or weight limits, facility hours, fees and preparation instructions. If the guide uses a regional authority, that is intentional: the regional waste operator may control disposal even when curbside service is associated with the municipality.
