How to dispose of common items in Kawartha Lakes

Mattress and box-spring disposal

Mattresses use a separate $22 mattress tag, not the $15 general large-item tag. Collection must be pre-arranged with Miller Waste. A mattress and box spring require two mattress tags — one for each unit.

Appliances and special items

Refrigerant appliances need both a $15 large-item tag and a $22 Freon-appliance tag, for $37 in tags total. Collection must be pre-arranged with Miller Waste at 705-359-1402 or 1-888-557-4711.

Drywall and renovation debris

Construction and renovation debris should go through the landfill/transfer system rather than the curbside large-item tag program.

Lindsay drop-off changes

The hazardous-waste building upgrade uses a temporary on-site drop-off area through the posted construction period. Cash is not accepted; use the listed card methods. Wednesday compost pickup does not mean summer waste disposal is open.
