How to dispose of common items in St. John’s
Mattress and box-spring disposal
Check the oversized-item list when booking a mattress or box spring. If appointments are closed or the item is ineligible, confirm the Residential Drop-Off route.
Couches and large furniture
Furniture and other bulk garbage can use an eligible oversized appointment or Robin Hood Bay. Keep reusable pieces out of the waste stream only when a recipient has confirmed acceptance.
Fridges, freezers and appliances
Metal, electronics and refrigerant appliances are separated at Robin Hood Bay or another approved recycling program. Do not hide hazardous material inside an appliance.
Drywall and renovation debris
Construction debris is not ordinary oversized household waste. Check Robin Hood Bay's material rules or use an approved construction-waste facility.
