La Ronge junk disposal and bulky items

Where to take furniture, mattresses, appliances and household waste in La Ronge — with local pickup and drop-off rules kept separate.

Core local routes verified against official municipal/regional sources. Check the live operator notice for your address, item and fee before set-out or travel.

Quick answer for La Ronge

Furniture and mattresses are accepted under the construction/demolition waste stream at the Lac La Ronge Regional Landfill according to the regional waste authority’s June 17, 2026 fee schedule. Residents should deliver sorted material to the correct landfill area and not leave oversized items during Town yard-waste cleanup.

1. What ordinary curbside collection covers

La Ronge residents receive ordinary town garbage collection according to the municipal route. The Town states that it no longer accepts large household items as part of its annual spring cleanup, which is a yard-waste service, not a free couch pickup.

2. Regional landfill or transfer-station route

The regional landfill is approximately 5 km south of Air Ronge from Highway 2 and normally opens Monday–Saturday 9 a.m.–4:45 p.m.; check the current holiday/closure notices. Refrigerant appliances must use the separate La Ronge recycling depot.

3. Appliances, chemicals and special waste

Asbestos, hazardous chemicals and certain problem materials are not received as ordinary landfill waste; the regional authority lists separate destinations. The Town’s optional free annual spring-yard-waste service requires arrangement and does not cover household furniture.

4. Charges, schedules and booking

On the regional authority website, effective June 17, 2026, construction/demolition including furniture and mattresses is $0.10/kg, with a $10 minimum entrance fee. The Town also describes a free half-ton-truck-box drop-off allowance for eligible residents, but whether that benefit offsets the updated regional special waste rate requires operator confirmation; do not promise free furniture disposal.

What still needs a last check

Regional fee and Town residential allowance wording may conflict for some material classes. Confirm residency eligibility and the actual fee for a furniture/mattress load with the landfill before travel.

Waste and recycling rules can vary by building type, address, operator and material. Large items should not be left at the curb unless your applicable collection program explicitly authorizes them. Facility acceptance is different from curbside acceptance.

Before you load a truck or place an item outside

  1. Check whether municipal or regional service applies to your property.
  2. Identify the item’s exact stream: mattress, furniture, major appliance, metal, hazardous waste, construction material or ordinary household refuse.
  3. Check the official fee, facility hours and any required booking or advance approval.
  4. Secure your load and follow facility instructions for separation or special handling.
