- Whitby operates its own large-item pickup rather than the Durham Region furniture route used by several neighbouring municipalities. The 2026 service costs $27 for up to 12 bulky or metal items when booked through Waste Buddy.
- Self-haul option
- Durham Region waste facilities remain an alternative for self-haul loads and materials that are not eligible for Whitby pickup.

Mattress and box-spring disposal
Mattresses and furniture can be included in a booked Whitby large-item pickup when they meet the City’s current accepted-item rules.
Appliances and special items
Metal items can be included in the booked service; porcelain and e-waste have separate no-fee special collection routes under the City’s program.
Drywall and renovation debris
Loose renovation and demolition material is not a substitute for a booked bulky-item pickup. Use the regional facility route for construction waste.
