Quick answer for West Perth
West Perth residents can take an unwanted mattress, box spring, couch or chair to the municipal landfill at 125 Clarke Street, Mitchell. The Municipality’s 2026 fee schedule lists $10 per item for each of these categories.
1. Mattress and furniture disposal
The municipal fee table separately lists a mattress or box spring at $10 per item and a couch or chair at $10 per item. These are landfill disposal categories, not regular curbside oversized-item pickups. Confirm any unusual upholstered item before visiting.
2. Landfill address, eligibility and hours
The West Perth Landfill is at 125 Clarke Street, Mitchell. It is for waste generated within West Perth only; be prepared to show proof of residence. The posted hours are Tuesday–Friday 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.–1 p.m., with the last load accepted 15 minutes before closing. Monday, Sunday and statutory holidays are closed.
3. Additional 2026 charges
The municipality lists a $10 minimum for weighed waste and $107 per metric tonne for ordinary household waste. Mixed loads have a separate $214-per-tonne category. Do not assume the per-item fee automatically covers additional mixed garbage.
4. Tires, metal and appliances
West Perth says its landfill does not accept tires or asbestos-containing materials. Scrap steel and qualifying e-waste have no-charge routes. Tagged and untagged refrigerant appliances have distinct published fees; separate them from household furniture before arrival.
