How to dispose of common items in St. Thomas
Mattresses, couches and household furniture
Because the city does not collect large furniture at the curb, take couches, mattresses and other bulky items to the Community Recycling Centre or an approved private disposal route. Bring proof of residency if required.
Appliances, electronics, paint, propane and other special items
Household hazardous waste has dedicated hours. Appliances, electronics and other special materials should be checked against the centre’s accepted list and separated from general waste.
Renovation, construction and yard debris
Construction debris is not part of curbside household collection. Use the Community Recycling Centre or another approved project-waste facility and expect the applicable chargeable-load minimum.
