Prescott junk disposal and bulky items

Where to take furniture, mattresses, appliances and household waste in Prescott — with local pickup and drop-off rules kept separate.

Core local routes verified against official municipal/regional sources. Check the live operator notice for your address, item and fee before set-out or travel.

Quick answer for Prescott

Prescott has a scheduled, preregistered large-item collection in April, July and October, not weekly unlimited pickup. The remaining 2026 event is Wednesday, October 14, but the official registration deadline was October 8, 2026, already past at this audit date. Residents must NOT assume they can register after the deadline.

1. What ordinary curbside collection covers

Prescott collects regular household garbage Tuesday with Town garbage tags; bags must be at the curb by 7 a.m. Recycling follows a separate collection schedule, administered by Circular Materials.

2. Regional landfill or transfer-station route

The Town has no municipal landfill and says its Ed Yandeau Operations Centre does not accept refuse. For direct disposal outside approved events, contact an appropriate licensed facility such as the operator linked by the Town.

3. Appliances, chemicals and special waste

Prescott publishes separate large-item classes: furniture, mattresses/box springs, major appliances containing or not containing refrigerant, and free qualifying e-waste/tires. These classes are for the scheduled registered event, not regular trash day.

4. Charges, schedules and booking

For its preregistered large-item dates, the Town lists $10 per furniture item, $20 per mattress/box spring, $15 per approved non-refrigerant appliance and $65 per refrigerant-bearing appliance; approved e-waste and tires are marked free. These charges are specific to the Town’s event.

What still needs a last check

As of October 11, 2026, the October 14 event registration deadline has passed. Do not promote signup for that date as still open. Check later-year announcements and exact material eligibility with Town staff.

Waste and recycling rules can vary by building type, address, operator and material. Large items should not be left at the curb unless your applicable collection program explicitly authorizes them. Facility acceptance is different from curbside acceptance.

Before you load a truck or place an item outside

  1. Check whether municipal or regional service applies to your property.
  2. Identify the item’s exact stream: mattress, furniture, major appliance, metal, hazardous waste, construction material or ordinary household refuse.
  3. Check the official fee, facility hours and any required booking or advance approval.
  4. Secure your load and follow facility instructions for separation or special handling.
