Perth junk disposal and bulky items
Where to take furniture, mattresses, appliances and household waste in Perth — with local pickup and drop-off rules kept separate.
Core local routes verified against official municipal/regional sources. Check the live operator notice for your address, item and fee before set-out or travel.
Quick answer for Perth
The Town explicitly DOES NOT operate large-item curbside pickup. Large furniture, oversized household goods and eligible construction waste must be taken to the Perth Landfill during operating hours with applicable tipping fees. Do not attach tags to a couch expecting regular pickup.
1. What ordinary curbside collection covers
Perth collects ordinary curbside garbage biweekly with a two-bag allowance per eligible household, and separately offers weekly green-bin organics. Recycling is managed under Ontario’s Circular Materials system; residential set-out is due by 7 a.m.
2. Regional landfill or transfer-station route
Perth Landfill handles permissible large items and specific construction waste, with waste sorted by stream. The Town separately lists seasonal hazardous waste facilities and routes; check receiving requirements before arrival.
3. Appliances, chemicals and special waste
Household hazardous items must use authorized seasonal depot or designated alternatives. E-waste has a distinct drop-off/reuse stream; ordinary curbside garbage must not include regulated waste.
4. Charges, schedules and booking
The Town’s landfill page lists regular non-hazardous waste at $130.70 per tonne and construction/demolition at $163.50 per tonne, with the minimum tip fee eliminated. These are weight-based rates, not fixed per mattress or couch. Extra regular garbage bag tags are $2 each.
What still needs a last check
The seasonal hazardous waste page carries a stale reopening line; verify the current actual calendar rather than promising the named past day. Different material fees or restrictions may apply at the scale.
Waste and recycling rules can vary by building type, address, operator and material. Large items should not be left at the curb unless your applicable collection program explicitly authorizes them. Facility acceptance is different from curbside acceptance.
Before you load a truck or place an item outside
- Check whether municipal or regional service applies to your property.
- Identify the item’s exact stream: mattress, furniture, major appliance, metal, hazardous waste, construction material or ordinary household refuse.
- Check the official fee, facility hours and any required booking or advance approval.
- Secure your load and follow facility instructions for separation or special handling.
For national background, compare mattress disposal options, appliance disposal, and paid removal cost factors. The local sources below control the actual disposal rules.
