1. Where mattresses and bulky waste go
South Easthope Landfill is restricted to Perth East residents; proof of residency may be requested. The Township explicitly lists mattresses and box springs, waste wood, appliances, drywall and general household waste as accepted. It does not separately promise curbside pickup of these large items.
2. 2026 fees and hours
Schedule H sets mattresses and box springs at $98.60 per tonne, with a $10 minimum tipping charge. The site is open Tuesday–Thursday 9 a.m.–4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.–1 p.m.; waste is accepted only until 15 minutes before closing. Check holiday changes before travelling.
3. Tires and other materials
Despite the general landfill page showing tires as an accepted material, the Township announced a temporary suspension of used-tire acceptance on August 12, 2026. Do not bring tires without checking whether collection has resumed. Free diversion routes for other materials are separately listed, but exact acceptance still depends on current site directions.
4. Sofas and property requirements
The Township lists general household waste but does not separately identify every couch type or upholstery treatment. Contact the landfill before transporting unusual furniture, appliances containing refrigerant, asbestos or potentially hazardous materials. Do not leave oversized items outside a curbside cart.
