Norwich junk disposal and bulky items

Where to take furniture, mattresses, appliances and household waste in Norwich — with local pickup and drop-off rules kept separate.

Core local routes verified against official municipal/regional sources. Check the live operator notice for your address, item and fee before set-out or travel.

Quick answer for Norwich

Oxford County explicitly includes mattresses, box springs and household furniture in its annual residential Large Item Collection. The May 11–15, 2026 2026 event is over; it is NOT a currently available curbside booking or year-round pickup program.

1. What ordinary curbside collection covers

Ordinary household garbage and recycling are collected under Oxford County programs (not the municipality’s own large-item policy). Check the county Wasteline address schedule; bag tags are used only as prescribed for regular garbage. Township of Norwich collection took place May 11–15, 2026.

2. Regional landfill or transfer-station route

Outside the scheduled spring collection period, the Oxford County Waste Management Facility in Salford provides a receiving route for municipal residual waste; proof of Oxford County address may be requested. Staff control acceptance and load segregation.

3. Appliances, chemicals and special waste

The annual large-item pickup excludes appliances, electronics, hazardous materials, construction debris, loose boxes and glass/mirrors. Each large item must be no more than 45 kg (100 lb), set out no earlier than permitted and by 7 a.m. Monday of the designated collection week.

4. Charges, schedules and booking

No bag tag is required for eligible items DURING the seasonal large-item program. At the 2026 Oxford County facility, mixed solid waste is $100 per 1,000 kg with a $15 minimum charge; refrigerant-containing equipment may have an additional $20 surcharge.

What still needs a last check

May 11–15, 2026 seasonal collection dates have already passed. Verify material-specific landfill eligibility and current operating/holiday schedule before driving; do not confuse regular recycling with oversized item pickup.

Waste and recycling rules can vary by building type, address, operator and material. Large items should not be left at the curb unless your applicable collection program explicitly authorizes them. Facility acceptance is different from curbside acceptance.

Before you load a truck or place an item outside

  1. Check whether municipal or regional service applies to your property.
  2. Identify the item’s exact stream: mattress, furniture, major appliance, metal, hazardous waste, construction material or ordinary household refuse.
  3. Check the official fee, facility hours and any required booking or advance approval.
  4. Secure your load and follow facility instructions for separation or special handling.
