How to dispose of common items in Newmarket
Mattress and box-spring disposal
Mattresses and box springs use Newmarket’s scheduled large-item service. Each item needs a $17 large-item tag and an appointment with GFL; book by 11 a.m. Monday of the garbage collection week to guarantee that week, with a maximum of five large items. Set items out by 7 a.m. and no earlier than 5 p.m. the night before.
Appliances and special items
Large appliances and metal items use Newmarket’s scheduled collection process and can also use selected York Region depots where accepted. Large-item tags cost $17, and GFL bookings are made at 1-866-421-5625. Electronics follow separate recycling/depot routes and should not be mixed into a bulky-item set-out.
Drywall and renovation debris
Construction and renovation material should be taken to an appropriate York Region/private facility rather than placed with household large items.
