Quick answer for Gander

Gander operates an ANNUAL CLEAN-UP WEEK, not unlimited weekly curbside furniture pickup. The Town’s posted rules allow upholstery and mattresses as a distinct sorted pile during the annual designated collection period, along with separate piles for metal, wood, branches and ordinary waste. The 2027 event dates are not yet announced.

1. What ordinary curbside collection covers

Gander provides weekly household garbage collection with street-specific days. Regular household garbage must be in clear bags (recyclables in transparent blue bags), within its six-container and weight limits, and presented during the permitted 6–8 a.m. window. Check the official holiday schedule.

2. Regional landfill or transfer-station route

Outside that event, the Town refers residents to approved transfer-station and regional waste options, including a McCurdy Drive facility whose 2026 access model is being changed. Confirm current access days and acceptance with the Town.

3. Appliances, chemicals and special waste

Hazardous materials, electronics and garden material have separate routes. The annual cleanup prohibits materials such as concrete, e-waste, hazardous chemicals and certain tires.

4. Charges, schedules and booking

No year-round free mattress pickup or specific disposal fee at McCurdy Drive was established; dates for the next seasonal event must be confirmed before set-out.

What still needs a last check

Gander’s page has 2026/27 holiday and cleanup text, but annual cleanup timing is not a standing weekly service. Direct drop-off must be confirmed with Town staff.

Waste and recycling rules can vary by building type, address, operator and material. Large items should not be left at the curb unless your applicable collection program explicitly authorizes them. Facility acceptance is different from curbside acceptance.

Before you load a truck or place an item outside

  1. Check whether municipal or regional service applies to your property.
  2. Identify the item’s exact stream: mattress, furniture, major appliance, metal, hazardous waste, construction material or ordinary household refuse.
  3. Check the official fee, facility hours and any required booking or advance approval.
  4. Secure your load and follow facility instructions for separation or special handling.
