How to dispose of common items in Delta

Appliances and special items

Many furniture and metal items can use the booked program, but hazardous or regulated products need their own recycling route.

Drywall and renovation debris

Construction and renovation materials are not accepted in Delta’s large-item pickup. Use the landfill/recycling depot or an appropriate private C&D facility.

Mattress and box-spring disposal

Mattresses and box springs are eligible large items when booked; Delta requires them to be dry and sealed in clear plastic for collection.

Before you set out or haul a large item

In Delta, classify the item before choosing the disposal route. Furniture, mattresses, refrigerant appliances, electronics, household hazardous waste and construction debris can be governed by different collection or facility rules even when they come from the same home.

Use City of Delta — Large Item Pick-Up to re-check the current collection date or booking requirement, item dimensions or weight limits, facility hours, fees and preparation instructions. If the guide uses a regional authority, that is intentional: the regional waste operator may control disposal even when curbside service is associated with the municipality.

Preparation and exclusions

Mattresses and box springs must be dry, wrapped and sealed; upholstered furniture must be dry. Each item must be manageable by two people and remain in one piece. Electronics, tires, propane tanks and renovation materials are excluded from this pickup.
