Westlock junk disposal and bulky items

Where to take furniture, mattresses, appliances and household waste in Westlock — with local pickup and drop-off rules kept separate.

Core local routes verified against official municipal/regional sources. Check the live operator notice for your address, item and fee before set-out or travel.

Quick answer for Westlock

The Westlock Regional Landfill expressly accepts mattresses and box springs (charged per unit rather than by weight), furniture such as couches and dressers, and construction/demolition material. Those are disposal routes at the facility, not permissions to leave large articles beside curbside bins.

1. What ordinary curbside collection covers

Westlock residents receive curbside garbage, recycling and organics collection via Prairie Waste Solutions, under oversight of the Westlock Regional Waste Management Commission. Carts should be ready by 7 a.m. The Town describes a recycling-material expansion from October 1, 2026.

2. Regional landfill or transfer-station route

The Westlock Regional Waste Management Commission operates the Class II Westlock Regional Landfill and on-site recycling facility, with separately signed drop-off areas. Confirm site hours and unload instructions before travelling.

3. Appliances, chemicals and special waste

The commission recycling facility accepts large and small appliances including fridges/freezers, and electronics in designated areas. Household chemicals and used paint go to designated totes at a different part of the site, rather than being mixed with garbage.

4. Charges, schedules and booking

The commission says mattress and box-spring charges are per item; this review did not confirm a current amount. Normal landfill rates and material-specific rates require checking the facility price list. Do not equate recycling acceptance with free drop-off.

What still needs a last check

Mattress per-unit dollar fee, dates and site opening hours require confirmation at the commission. Curbside bulky-item pickup was not established from the current Town page.

Waste and recycling rules can vary by building type, address, operator and material. Large items should not be left at the curb unless your applicable collection program explicitly authorizes them. Facility acceptance is different from curbside acceptance.

Before you load a truck or place an item outside

  1. Check whether municipal or regional service applies to your property.
  2. Identify the item’s exact stream: mattress, furniture, major appliance, metal, hazardous waste, construction material or ordinary household refuse.
  3. Check the official fee, facility hours and any required booking or advance approval.
  4. Secure your load and follow facility instructions for separation or special handling.
