Innisfail junk disposal and bulky items

Where to take furniture, mattresses, appliances and household waste in Innisfail — with local pickup and drop-off rules kept separate.

Source-checked city guide: an official route for common bulky items is now identified. Check the operator for fees, exceptions and eligibility before acting.

Quick answer for Innisfail

Innisfail’s Waste Transfer Station accepts furniture with posted charges of $40 per large item or $20 per small item; the Town page does not separately confirm a permanent mattress drop-off rate. The free 2026 curbside large-item collection included sofas, mattresses and box springs, but its registration closed April 23 and the pickup ended April 30, 2026. Do not put a mattress out today as ordinary curbside garbage.

1. What ordinary curbside collection covers

Regular garbage uses household black carts on the scheduled weekly collection day, set out by 7 a.m. The Town limits cart weight to 75 lb. Routine cart collection is not the spring 2026 large-item pickup event.

2. Regional landfill or transfer-station route

Innisfail Waste Transfer Station: 3660 60 Avenue, accessed by 37 Street south of the Innisfail Arena. The Town lists Wednesdays and Saturdays, 9 a.m.–7 p.m., and a separate fee table covering household waste and furniture. The Town does not separately list mattresses under its regular furniture tariff: phone ahead for a specific mattress/box-spring quote.

3. Appliances, chemicals and special waste

The 2026 spring large-item curbside program allowed up to three qualifying items from registered residential addresses, including sofas, mattresses and box springs, subject to a 90 kg weight cap and general 1.8 m × 0.9 m size rule (mattresses excepted from the general size rule). That seasonal collection is over and should not be offered as an active service. At the transfer station, tires, dirt, chemicals, concrete and solar panels are excluded.

4. Charges, schedules and booking

The Town publishes $40 per large furniture item, $20 per small furniture item, and load-based household disposal rates, with payment by cash, debit or cheque (not credit card). The transfer station’s specific mattress rate/acceptance is not separately established by that fee category; contact the Town or station before transporting one.

What still needs a last check

Confirm mattress/box-spring acceptance and the fee for that exact item at the Waste Transfer Station before travel. Reconfirm current hours if visiting during holidays. The April 2026 free pickup is finished; no new pickup date was confirmed.

Waste and recycling rules can vary by building type, address, operator and material. Large items should not be left at the curb unless your applicable collection program explicitly authorizes them. Facility acceptance is different from curbside acceptance.

Before you load a truck or place an item outside

  1. Check whether municipal or regional service applies to your property.
  2. Identify the item’s exact stream: mattress, furniture, major appliance, metal, hazardous waste, construction material or ordinary household refuse.
  3. Check the official fee, facility hours and any required booking or advance approval.
  4. Secure your load and follow facility instructions for separation or special handling.
