How to dispose of common items in Grande Prairie County No. 1
Mattresses, couches and household furniture
County facilities accept household and yard waste, including furniture at the larger regional sites. For a normal household load, residents can use the county access system; for a very large cleanout, Clairmont or the West regional station is more appropriate than a small rural transfer station.
Appliances, electronics, paint, propane and other special items
Recycling is available without the 1,000-kg annual waste cap. Refrigerant appliances, mattresses and other special items have separate fee categories under the County fee bylaw, so keep them visible and sorted when arriving at a staffed facility.
Renovation, construction and yard debris
Construction and industrial loads should go to a facility that accepts them, especially Clairmont or the West Grande Prairie regional station. Asbestos is listed as unacceptable at the ordinary county landfill/transfer route and must use an approved specialized option.
