LOCAL DISPOSAL OPTIONS

How to dispose of common items in Red Deer County

Mattresses, couches and household furniture

Furniture and household junk can go through the Horn Hill waste stream. Charges are weight-based with a minimum fee under the county’s published fee schedule, so separate free diversion materials before crossing the scale.

Appliances, electronics, paint, propane and other special items

Fridges and freezers are accepted as a separate white-goods stream with a per-unit fee. Tires, household hazardous products and eligible residential e-waste have no-charge diversion routes.

Renovation, construction and yard debris

Construction, renovation and demolition waste is charged separately from ordinary residential waste. Horn Hill does not accept asbestos, concrete or asphalt under its standard accepted list, so those materials require another approved route.
